Our Story

Decades of Community & Faith

The Assoun Christian Charitable Association (ACCA) is a non-profit organisation founded in Sydney in the 1980s originally by the first influx of the Assoun migrants who arrived from Lebanon. With the passage of time and little involvement from the community, the Association rendered inactive.

In 2010 a group of passionate volunteers from Assoun formed a Founding Committee whose purpose was to revive the Association. The Founding Committee in the years that followed laid the foundation for the first Constitution draft regulating activities, and paving the way for community members to join and contribute — leading subsequently to the election of a formal committee.

Since then, ACCA has been very active in organising periodical social and spiritual functions — the Annual BBQ, The Dormition of the Mother of God and many more — ultimately reconnecting the Assoun community together.

The Assoun Christian Charitable Association has come a long way and prides itself on bringing the community together, being an exclusive platform and a key source of information for the Assoun community in Australia, Lebanon, and around the world.

"To promote our Christian values, bring and connect the Assoun community, attract and expose the new generation to our heritage, help the needy and foster relationships."

What Drives Us

ACCA's ultimate aim is to promote our Christian values, bring and connect the Assoun community, attract and expose the new generation to our heritage, help the needy, and foster relationships.

Raising funds — by means of social, spiritual and cultural activities within the charitable context governed by local law and regulations — is fundamental to support our objectives.

Community Connection
Bringing Assoun people together across Australia, Lebanon and worldwide through events and shared platforms.
Cultural Heritage
Preserving the traditions, language, and Christian values of Assoun for the next generation.
